Before Intravenous Anesthesia Sedation

  • Please do not have anything to eat or drink (including water, gum, or mints) for eight (8) hours prior to the appointment.
  • If you have an illness such as a cold, sore throat, cough, fever, stomach or upset bowel, please notify the office.
  • If you take routine oral medications, please check with Dr. Lambert prior to your surgical date for instructions
  • No smoking at least 12 hours before surgery. Ideally, cut down or stop smoking as soon as possible prior to the day of surgery. 
  • A responsible adult must accompany the patient to the office, remain in the office during the procedure, and drive the patient home.  Please arrange for responsible supervision for the remainder of the day.  You will not be allowed to take public conveyance or drive a car.
  • Please wear loose fitting clothing with sleeves which can be rolled up past the elbow, and low-heeled shoes.
  • Please remove contact lenses, jewelry, and dentures at the time of surgery.
  • Please do not wear lipstick, excessive makeup, or nail polish on the day of surgery.
  • Please do not have your hair in a pony tail or bun.
  • Full mental alertness will not return for several hours after the surgery.  For the remainder of the day please limit activity requiring full power of concentration.  You will not be able to drive a vehicle or operate any machinery, undertake business matters, or drink alcoholic beverages.
